For people who don't know: This a true story about the growing love between two girls, who 2ch calls "Husky" and "Medley". The girl called Medley asks for help and advice on 2 Channels VIP board, and told the VIP board everything that would happen between them. It's a true love story that was made into a manga. Husky and Medley each wrote each other one letter. Medley took a photo of one of these letters and posted it to 2 Channels VIP board. The photo is included in the manga, but I don't know which letter it is and it is too low resolution for anyone to read. Can you help me?

As far as I know, the Japanese do look down of gay men and women. The Japanese are both very religious and very conformist, and being gay, regardless of your gender, goes against both conformism and religion. The the majority of Japanese hate gays like the southerners of the United States do.

However, there is an absurd amount of of gay and lesbian manga that is sold all over Japan, and almost as much gay and lesbian anime that is broadcast on national television where anyone can watch it. This seems like a contradiction to me and I do not understand it. I need to get a Japanese person to explain it to me.

I've read that gays and lesbians in Japan don't face violence, like you said, but exclusion. Instead they face things like being fired from jobs, being disowned by family, and bullying/harassment.

So I was surprised to see 2 Channel actually helping and supporting them instead of ignoring them or verbally harassing them. Of course if they were guys, or it wasn't over the internet, I think peoples reactions would be VERY different.

There always had been a dichotomy between government action and people's need/opinion/thinking.
Our politics aren't that much into dealing with political issue, they're too busy tax frauding and such.

Appart from old people/dumb people/countryside people/uneducated people/immigrant/politics we don't really mind homosexuals.
Sure, they do suffer from a certain stigmata, but that would mainly be due to imported american media (hollywood reality, etc)

I think that's most places in the world.

I also think that explains the dichotomy. Now I will admit I don't pay too much attention to French politics(other than to see who Sarchozy has knocked up or insulted this week), but from what I've seen France seems to be like here in that mostly old and stupid people get involved in politics.
